Dr. Awad is the founding director of Boston University’s Neuromotor Recovery Laboratory—a cross-disciplinary research group that works to develop, study, and translate rehabilitation therapies and technologies, with focus on wearable robots, sensors, and digital therapeutics. At Boston University, he is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy, with a secondary appointment in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and is an affiliated faculty member of the Center for Neurophotonics. At Harvard University, he is a founding core faculty member of the Harvard Move Lab and an Associate in the Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. At Harvard Medical School, he is on the research staff at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital and is an Associate in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Dr. Awad is an Associate Editor for leading open access journals at the intersection of rehabilitation and technology, including Journal of NeuroEngineering and Rehabilitation and the IEEE Open Journal of Engineering in Medicine and Biology. In addition to his academic and editorial positions, he is a member of the Stroke Rehabilitation Scientific Advisory Board for ReWalk Robotics and serves as Chief Science Advisor for MedRhythms.
