Sassy Outwater-Wright

Interfaith Clinical Care Chaplain, Certified Patient Advocate

Sassy Outwater-Wright is an interfaith clinical care chaplain and certified patient advocate. She is an internationally known disability justice activist and has spent over 20 years in the web accessibility and digital health equity patient experience field as a user experience subject matter expert. Outwater-Wright was first diagnosed with a rare childhood cancer when she was six months old. She has been totally blind since infancy from her first cancer, and has since faced cancer five more times. She is currently a late stage metastatic leiomyosarcoma patient at UCSF. Sassy and her family live in Berkeley California, and Salem Massachusetts. Sassy is the Executive Director of the Massachusetts Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired. She is a professional musician and enjoys cooking, gardening, and traveling the world with her guide dog always beside her; her fifth Guide Dog, Trident, is pictured here with Sassy.
